It's Spring!

At least it was spring when I took these pics :)

April.  The cabin where we stayed at Punderson State Park.  The sunrise was beautiful over the lake.

Spring bulbs begin to emerge after a long, arduous winter.  These little gems in the front bed multiply each year...

And all of my newly planted hyacinth bulbs by the back fence bloomed!

Someone went a little crazy planting tulip bulbs.  All 50 bulbs bloomed as well as a couple that haven't bloomed in years.  I dare say more will be planted in the coming weeks....

Of course, a girl's Prather-Thompson's gotta eat!  This year I tried some spring crops, ie., snow peas, garden peas, beets, icicle radishes, lettuce and spinach.

I spent many hours (during the hellish winter!), researching herb spirals.  I dug up as much old concrete and stones as I could from around the yard and built one.  Next spring, I'll be making it bigger taller and BADDER!  (It should be 3' tall in the center, but mine falls short by about a foot.)

The little frog pond at the base of the spiral.
I planted oregano, curly leaf parsley, cinnamon and sweet basil, sage, hyssop, lemon and bee balms, borage, lavender, rosemary and chives.  Everything grew in quite nicely.  I also planted purple leaf basil but it wasn't doing well so I put it in a pot on the deck.

July
I'll have to take an updated photo.  It's really grown in now and I'll be harvesting everything very soon.  I've been using fresh herbs like crazy - I'm SO happy to have it!

Speaking of happy...........check out my little greenhouse.  Dad's bought me a walk in twice the size of this one.  I was going to experiment with it over the winter, but I think I'll wait and put it up in the spring and experiment with this one.

OK.  I'm about photoed out, and hopefully, you are too by now!  I'm going to go get that pic of the herb spiral as it is today.  Until next time (maybe, just MAYbe tomorrow! ------

PEACE OUT FROM THE WALKIN' DIVA!
(FOUR, yes, FOUR 5Ks this week, Baby!!!)
